Something big changed in 1997.

A year later, Time Magazine explained why. A cover article hailed Robert Rubin, Alan Greenspan and Larry Summers for "saving the world" by trying to prevent the Asian financial crisis turning into TEOTWAWKI.

But Summers, Bernanke and Greenspan aren’t remembered as saviors. Instead their legacy was financial deregulation, the creation of huge asset bubbles and busts. This led to in the Great Financial Crisis of 2008, and the Superbubble which is still expanding today.
